Tips in Keeping Your Garden Pest-free

Don't you just hate it when your efforts go to almost nothing but waste with all the pests? This is the reason why some people don't even want to put so much effort in beautifying their yard with a garden - pests. The answer to this dilemma is garden pest control.

Garden pest control is a must when you have a garden. The following are some tips to help you keep your garden free from pests.

• Do not overwater your plants. Do not over fertilize them either. Not only do these make your plants unhealthy, these also attract bugs. Overwatered land will also make grass grow; this will eventually lead to dry lawn. Water your plants with what they need. Occasional fertilizing is recommended, especially when needed. Unless your plants require daily watering, water your garden and lawn (for twenty to thirty minutes) thrice a week during summer will keep your garden and lawn in good shape. One a week during winter is also enough. Too much nitrogen application will make your plants grow more leaves, which attract insects.

• Be cautious with pesticides and insecticides. Environment friendly insecticides and pesticides are recommended. Some garden pest control products are harmful to the plants. Some also contain harmful components when inhaled. There are also items we use in our homes that are effective natural and organic pest fighters. An example is vinegar which is an effective herbicide.

• If you have enough patience to lay copper wire on the area surrounding your garden, then do so. Slugs will get electrical charge if they try to cross it. However, be sure to lay these carefully so no one, especially children, will get their feet hooked on the wires.

Garden pest control is something that people fond of gardens and gardening should know. Also, garden pest control is only effective when one is truly concerned with making his or her garden not only great looking with the eyes, but also healthy and indeed pest-free.
